About me

Stephanie Hönig

The invisible bond between you and your horse is built in trust, respect and an understanding for each other.

If we see the horse as an individual, which it is, and look at it from a neutral perspective, we will quickly realize the type of horse we are dealing with and what needs it has.

Am I standing before an extrovert-emotional horse or an introvert-creative horse? Perhaps the horse is extrovert-creative or introvert-emotional? I would like to show you the meaning of this and thereby bringing you closer to your horse.

Every one of these horses needs a different task and strategy and this specific moment. If we are able to understand these and work with them, we can achieve our goals and we will have a great pleasure in doing so.

I work with positive reinforcement and the psychology of horses. When we try to understand them, to be with them in the here and now, we will win a faithful companion.

My Training with the horses, starts with a basic Training of Horsemanship “Online”. The partnership with the horse is paramount, both when dealing with a young or an older horse. Every horse, with whom I get to train, goes through this program first. It enables us to find a shared communication and be on the same wavelength. I like to compare this to a school system:

- Elementary school (“Online” + natural/ free riding)

- Highschool (Equikinetic and Dualactivation+Liberty)

- University (Specialization)

My special attention is twofold- on the one hand, it is directed towards the horses psyche and on the other hand, it is directed towards the physical Training of the horses. This means that it is up to us, to train the horses to be able to ride with us and to accept our special preferences of riding, without taking damage. In order to obtain this goal a balanced training is necessary.

The Equikinetic and the ridden Dualactivation are “Training tools” which I would not want to miss out on anymore. They are not only effective but they also allow for a varied Training for the horse and the rider.

I would love to tell you more about my philosophy and my way of conducting horse Trainings. So feel free to take a look around on my homepage and visit my Facebook page. To contact me, feel free to give me a call or write me an E-mail and we can arrange a joint appointment.

But lets strart at the beginning...

I was born on the 19th of September 1984 in Lüneburg, Lower Saxony. My sister and I were raised by our mom in Winsen/Luhe. Today my husband and I, along with our dogs Shereen&Emma and our Schleswig cold blood Sir Henry, live in the wonderful Onsala, Sweden.

Since August 2017 I have been undergoing a Training to become a horse Psychologist. This Training is held by my mentor and Trainer Mikkel Eron Angel Oster. The training provides me with the capabilities, to read and understand the gracious spirits even better and thus, to be able to respond to their needs more accurately.

But lets see, where everthing was starting...

My sister and I have had the great fortune to come into contact with ponies and horses from an early age, as our grandmother, who unfortunately passed away this year, as well as our mother and her siblings, have always been in close contact with the wonderful creatures. There is even a picture of me in the arms of my aunt, sitting on her pony, when I was just about 9 months old, beaming with joy. While I cannot remember this event, I still feel the same way, whenever I have the honor of experiencing the beauty of horse-back riding. It is an amazing feeling, to be in unison with a horse.

To this day, all family members, except for our mom, live and work with horses. Although our mother still loves the magical creatures, she had to give up intensive horse-back riding due to health issues. Despite this, you can sometimes find her in the saddle of my sisters mare when they ride out together.

Our personal preferences for the interaction with horses differs from each other.

My sister prefers sport horses and is a passionate about dressage riding, our aunt rides dressage, engages in show jumping and has a weakness for horseback hunting. Our other aunt has a mixed herd and she breeds horses with a quarterhorse stallion. Well, then there is me. A convinced user of Horsemanship in the basic education of every horse, in order to establish a partnership and build trust. Further I believe in Liberty work in order to place the focus on building muscle, balance and stamina. For me it is impossible to do without the Training techniques used in Equikinetic and the ridden Dualactivation, as tools for when working with horses. Each horses receives its own, individual Trainings plan. Personally I have a preference for large horses. The gentle giants beam of chivalry and strength, which enchants me to this day.

If someone would ask me what my ultimate goal with the horses is, I would say:

- I have a weakness for liberty dressage and I love working freely with horses. It is a pleasure to teach them the high art of dressage by hand and on their backs. This is an adventure, a story to be written together.

In order to achieve all this, thereby using necessary amount of strenght and power which the horse needs, is a long way of Training. Muscle Training and achieving balance, are thus main components of my Trainings. After completing the initial Training “Online”, it will continue with a focus on Equikinetic and the ridden Dualactivation.

I see it as my goal to bring horses and humans closer to each other, thereby setting and obtaining collective goals. It doesn’t matter if it’s a dog, a horse or a different animal we must learn to understand them and improve our ability to “read” them better. Feelings, trust and timing brings us closer to the techniques, which will make them understand us. Togetherness is the keycomponent of any type of Training.

When we see horses as partners, when we approach them with respect and understanding, we will find a partnership to last an entire horse life.

If I was able to awaken your curiosity, feel free to take a look at my offers and to contact me so that we can arrange an appointment.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and your horse,

Yours Stephanie
